21st National Street Music Festival

Friday May 16th
6pm – 9pm Registration – Salvation Army Hall, Belper
Market Place
8.30pm Choice of two Concerts!
Either:
At Nailers FC, Belper – Lester Simpson, Helen Watson
Or:
At the Queens Head pub, Belper (n.b. upstairs venue – no lift)
– Robb Johnson with Saskia Tompkins.
Doors open at 8p.m.; artists on stage at 8.45 p.m.
Start the weekend off in style!
Saturday May 17th
8am – 4pm Registration & signing up for workshops –
Salvation Army Hall, Belper Market Place
Green Fair in Belper Market Place
10am – 11.30am Rehearsals for mass sing, Belper Leisure Centre.
Please try and arrive on time!
12.15pm Mass sing, Memorial Gardens, Belper, featuring world premier
of ‘Sing Out,’ the specially-commissioned 21st festival
song written by Lester Simpson. Also to include short performance,
prepared especially for the festival, from massed choir of Belper
children.
2pm – 4pm Take over the town! Busking in and around the streets
of Belper, taking in the town’s interesting history along
the way with a new heritage trail map published to commemorate the
festival weekend.
4.30pm - 6pm Workshops.
7.30pm 21st Anniversary Choirs’ Night at Belper Leisure Centre.
A chance for all participating choirs to strut their stuff on stage
and celebrate 21 years of incredible festivals.
Sunday May 18th
9.45am - 11.15am Workshops
11.30am Take our guided walk or check out the Derwent Valley Heritage
Centre (free entry on production of festival programme). For the
walk, meet in the car park of Derwent Valley Heritage Centre (next
to the bridge) at 11.30am.
12.30pm-3pm Picnic and more mass singing in Belper’s beautiful
River Gardens, including another slot from the Belper children’s
choir formed especially for this festival.
The Leisure Centre is a 15 minute walk from the town centre.
It has an extensive car park for those who wish to drive there,
and there will also be a free shuttle bus service operating between
the town centre and the Leisure Centre at appropriate times.
